THE LABEL
Crafted with Purpose, Worn with Pride
Akoya was founded by Poojitha Gowda, a visionary designer driven by a deep passion for fusing timeless tradition with contemporary elegance. With an MBA in Textile Designing from the National Institute of Business Management and years of hands-on experience in the luxury fashion industry, Poojitha brings a unique blend of expertise, intention, and soul to the Akoya story.
Inspired by the minimalism, discipline, and sustainability of Japanese culture, she envisioned Akoya as more than just a fashion label. It would be a movement for mindful living—a place where style meets substance, and where every garment tells a story of values, ethics, and artistry.
During her journey in the fashion world, Poojitha saw an undeniable shift. The fast fashion cycle—with its focus on overproduction, fleeting trends, and waste—left consumers disillusioned. More and more, people were seeking fashion with meaning—clothing that felt personal, authentic, and responsibly made. Pieces that didn't just follow trends but reflected purpose And so, Akoya was born.
